How it all started.

My family were always into the outdoors and hiked a lot on the Superior Hiking Trail and at National Parks, until 16 years ago. My father wanted to climb Mt Whitney in California, the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States (the lower 48 states). The normal climbing route is 22 miles round trip, with over 6,000 feet elevation gain and done in 1 or 2 days. The trailhead is also one end of the John Muir trail that runs 211 miles through the Sierra Nevada mountains. We completed the climb in 18 hours and I got hooked on altitude!
