Mt Elbert and Mt Massive are located outside of Leadville in the Sawatch range of the Rocky Mountains. These two mountains are right next to each other and the first and second tallest in the state and in the top three mountains in the continental United States. The stand 14,433' and 14,421' respectively and provide awesome views of the entire region. I was fortunate to climb them both earlier this year after the cancellation of my Denali trip. Colorado provides a great mix of climbing relatively close to home and one of my favorite travel destinations.
